Looking to Find out Eye Exam Costs at Warby Parker?
In select cities, Warby Parker is able to do a basic 20-minute eye exam for around $75. However, they are not able to provide an exam for a contact lens prescription.
For those not familiar with Warby Parker, they were created to offer designer eyewear at an affordable price. They do this by circumventing traditional channels, designing glasses in-house, and engaging with customers directly. They are able to provide prescription eyewear at a fraction of the market price. Their primary belief is that buying glasses should be easy and fun. It should leave you happy and good-looking, with money in your pocket.
Is Warby Parker a good deal?
For frames, yes as long as you dont care about the brands. As far as the Eye Exam Costs at Warby Parker which is $75, that is in the middle of the road for market pricing. In fact, it is a bit high given that they do not offer a contact lens prescription. For $75, you may find a more comprehensive exam from your local eye doctor. Also if you are over 40 and have a more complex prescription, it may not be the right solution for you either.
Another key item that they will not be able to provide is access to new lens technologies such as Essilor’s Varalux product, Carl Zeiss lenses or even Hoyas lineup. It is comparable to getting a prescription for a drug by your doctor and ordering the cheaper and generic equivalent. It may be close, but it lacks many of the patented features these established and proven lenses offer.
Many of our readers have found that buying eyewear from an online retailer to be more difficult than expected. For a model like Warby Parker, most of their frames are not branded. You wont be able to find popular brands like Jimmy Choo, Oakley, Ray Ban and more. Also since many of their frames are “house brands”, you really need to try on many pair to find one that looks right on your face. They have “frame on face” technology on their website that shows what you will look like in a certain pair of frames.
They will also send you several pair of frames to try out. Both strategies have their own issues. Their most recent move of opening brick and mortar stores should help consumers get better access to their services. But only time will tell if they are just a fad or in it for the long haul.

Eye Exam Costs at Warby Parker
In select cities, Warby Parker is able to do a basic 20-minute eye exam for around $75. However, they are not able to provide an exam for a contact lens prescription. We gave Warby Parker a low ranking because of their limited access to Optometrists. We would NOT recommend using an online eye exam or an old prescription.
In our opinion, your eyes are one of the most important organs in your body. I would get an exam at your local eye doctor. Lastly, we also recommend getting retinal imaging scan from a machine like Optos. This is like a HD picture of your retina. It will cost you about $30 more but well worth it. Your optometrist can keep it on file so it can serve as your baseline. This helps them detect changing medical conditions each year.
I ordered 5 different frames that were supposed to fit my face. They arrived in a very nice box and the marketing is exceptional….but the quality is horrible. The plastic creeks and squeaks. Well at least they are cheap….but then I got the price and it was $150?? So the quality is lower and the price is higher than what I was paying at the eye doctor. So much for online savings!
Since their pricing is so low, they cant afford to license a brand. So you do give up designer names when ordered low cost glasses.
Why doesnt Warby Parker sell designer brands?
